Amad Diallo trolls Arsenal in savage takedown: 'Your only hope is corner'

Following Manchester United’s victory over Arsenal in gameweek 23, United winger Amad Diallo took a swipe at the Gunners on social media, suggesting they rely heavily on set pieces to win matches.

Man United just won 3-2 against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, ending their unbeaten home run since the start of the season. The result was significant for United’s push for a Champions League place and also dealt a blow to Arsenal’s title challenge.

After the match, Amad responded to comments from Arsenal fans on social media. One fan posted on X predicting a 4-0 Arsenal win, which Amad reposted with the caption “Enjoy kid.” When the fan replied, Amad fired back: “Your only hope is corners. Be humble KID.”

Since returning from AFCON 2025, Amad has become an important part of Michael Carrick’s system. Under Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3, he was often used as a wing-back, and many expected him to rotate with Bryan Mbeumo when Carrick switched back to a 4-2-3-1.

Instead, Carrick deployed Mbeumo as a striker and Amad on the right wing, giving him license to create chaos and stretch the defence. His role has helped open space for teammates and added more unpredictability to United’s attack.

In contrast, Arsenal’s wide players struggled again. Bukayo Saka has failed to score in his last 13 matches in all competitions, Viktor Gyökeres has not scored a non-penalty goal in his last 11 league games, and Gabriel Martinelli is now without a goal in 13 consecutive Premier League appearances.

Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira addressed the issue after the match. “It’s not just that they lost the game, it’s the way they lost the game. Saka and Trossard didn’t produce enough to worry United,” he said. “They need a leader to lift the spirit of the team. They need to understand that when they are on the pitch, they have to play with more energy and take more risks. They have the quality.”

United will now have a full week to prepare for their next Premier League fixture against Fulham on 1 February. Having been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions, the league is their sole focus for the remainder of the season. Arsenal, meanwhile, must recover quickly as they host Qarabag in their final Champions League league-phase match on Wednesday.
