Beckham Family Feud: Brooklyn accuses 'controlling' David and Victoria of trying to destroy his marriage

David Beckham’s eldest son, Brooklyn, has issued a six-page statement on Instagram accusing his parents of controlling his life and attempting to damage his marriage.

Brooklyn said that he "has no wish to reconcile with his family and is “standing up” for himself “for the first time” in his life". The statement came amid reports of a breakdown in his relationship with his parents.

On Instagram, Brooklyn addressed the situation publicly, writing: "For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into".

The former photographer also accused his mother, Victoria Beckham, of trying to interfere with his wedding. “My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped," he said.

Brooklyn began dating model and heiress Nicola Peltz before the couple married in 2022. He alleged that his mother "cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”

He further claimed that Victoria took the first dance intended for his wife and danced inappropriately with him in front of guests. Brooklyn also stated that "My mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.”

Regarding his father, Brooklyn said that after he and Nicola were reported to have “snubbed” David Beckham’s 50th birthday, they had travelled to London for the event but were not welcomed. He added that the former midfielder later refused to meet him unless Nicola was absent.

Brooklyn concluded by writing: “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life,” he wrote. “I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.

“My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”
