Lionel Messi’s sister escapes death after car crash
Sources in Argentina, later confirmed by the family, said María Sol was involved in the accident in Miami, United States. She reportedly lost consciousness while driving and crashed her SUV into a wall. As a result, she suffered multiple fractures and burns but narrowly avoided a tragic outcome.
Other reports stated that she sustained two fractured vertebrae, a fractured heel and wrist, along with several burns. Argentine journalist Ángel de Brito later revealed details from a conversation with Messi’s mother.
She said: “Messi’s sister is okay, she’s out of danger. I was checking things with the family because she was due to get married in Rosario, Argentina, on January 3, and she’s going to have to suspend it. She suffered burns, which are very difficult to treat, as well as displacement of vertebrae. She’s already started her rehabilitation in Rosario".
“I asked her mum, Celia Cuccittini, because I’d received some information, and she told me it’s true but that María Sol is okay. She has two fractured vertebrae, a fractured heel and wrist. The wedding is going to be postponed. Celia told me she fainted and hit a wall.”
As a result of the accident, her wedding, which was scheduled for 3 January next year, has been postponed. María Sol is dating Julián Tuli Arellano, her long-time partner and a coach with Inter Miami’s U19 team, who joined the club after Messi’s arrival. Julián was born and raised on the same street as Messi’s family and has maintained a close relationship with them over the years.
Unlike her famous brother, María Sol keeps her life private and rarely appears in the media. She reportedly runs her own business, Bikinis Rio, and has built a reputation as a designer. She has also been involved in some of Messi’s projects while keeping a low public profile.
So far, Lionel Messi has not made any official statement regarding the incident. The Argentine star is currently in his off-season after the MLS final, where he and Inter Miami won the title by beating Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1.
